Who I Am:
Marcus Gursky, PE
Prior to finding my calling in the engineering field I worked in the construction industry building homes, developing sites for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, and worked on a few heavy civil projects. I went back to school and graduated from Montana State University with honors in Civil Engineering. I moved to Maryland in 2008 to help build the Inter County Connector. Since then I have worked as a design engineer in the transportation and civil engineering fields winning the National Dam Safety Award for the Pretty Boy Dam rehabilitation project in Baltimore County, ASCE MD awards for two bridge rehabilitation projects in Maryland, and the ASHE DC design build project of the year for the replacement of a bridge for the Navy at the Dahlgren Naval Warfare Center in Virginia.
Licensed as a professional engineer in Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware, I have extensive experience in designing and inspecting buildings, bridges, foundations, underground structures, and have performed full and partial demolition plans for buildings and bridges.
With 27 years of experience in construction and engineering I started Alder Hill Engineering, LLC to bring services to home and business owners that deserve a seasoned engineer performing inspections and engineering solutions that work for you. The firms name comes from the name of the farm I grew up on. My mother respected the hardiness and tenacity of alders that were constantly trying to take over our fields. My parents were just as tenacious building a robust farm from nothing and instilled in me the same strong work ethic.
